What’s on the menu this month in Calgary?

It looks like YYC  foodies are going to be able to get their hands on some new mouthwatering dishes with a focus on fresh made-in-house options, comfort foods, and modern twists on traditional favourites.

So if you’re looking for some new haunts to chow down at this month, we recommend you check out the following notable Calgary spots:

Alforno Bakery & Cafe
This Italian cafe and restaurant will offer fresh artisan bread and pastries as well as full-service brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. Doors are expected to open mid January.

Pips Board Game Cafe
If you’re looking for a cozy alternative to going out this weekend, then you need to visit Pips, Calgary’s very first board game cafe located at Marda Loop. With more than 400 games and a variety of fresh salads, sandwiches and comfort foods available, Pips is the perfect place to spend your Saturday.

Yuga Traditional Indian Kitchen
Calgary’s popular Indian restaurant Yuga Traditional Indian Kitchen has just opened up its second location in West Springs and is serving up traditional Indian fare.

Foodies hoping to get their hands on some delicious Southern-style chicken are in luck, as Nicole Gomes of Nicole Gourmet and Top Chef Canada season three is opening Cluck n’ Cleaver, a casual chicken joint, by the end of the month. Guests can enjoy take-out Southern fried and rotisserie chicken, along with a number of delicious sides, milkshakes, and homemade treats.

Ace Coffee & Diner
For the Calgary brunch aficionados who wish they could indulge on their favourite breakfast dishes at any hour of the day, you need to pay Ace Coffee and Diner a visit. This quaint diner serves fresh coffee and breakfast all day long. We advise you give yourself at least an hour here as the menu features more than 40 mouthwatering dishes like banana bread french toast, avocado toast, and a life-changing breakfast burger.

Shokunin
Unlike traditional Japanese restaurants, Shokunin, a modern twist on Japanese tradition, will serve up yakitori and tapas sharing plates. There is also an impressive drink menu, which will include a variety of Japanese sakes and whiskies, cocktails, and rice beer that has been specifically brewed for the restaurant by Big Rock Brewery. Located in the heart of bustling Mission, it’s set to open at the end of the month.
