Hy’s Cocktail Bar:
Hy’s Steakhouse has been a popular fine dining option in Vancouver for 60 years and they’ve now added an intimate cocktail bar to their list of accomplishments. Earlier this month, Hy’s opened an upstairs cocktail lounge, which is led by mixologist Ryan Shimozawa. Customers can stop for a drink and listen to a live DJ Wednesday through Fridays.
This 3,000-square foot, two-storey restaurant serves up eclectic food and handcrafted drink options that are inspired by the Pacific Northwest in the heart of Chinatown. Executive Chef Sarah Stewart focuses on using only locally sourced produce, which is evident in her beautifully presented dishes. Juniper will also offer guests a wine program, which will be stewarded by wine connoisseur Sarah McCauley.
Freebird Chicken Shack:
For foodies who have a soft spot for casual dining options that feature mouthwatering fresh and simple ingredients, paying Freebird Chicken Shack a visit needs to be at the top of your to-do list. Executive chef and long-time restaurant owner Angus An is taking a modern approach to street food eats and is cooking up some extremely flavourful Asian-style chicken dishes. Chef An prides himself in using only free-range, hormone-free chickens.
LaTab Wine Bar:
Located in Vancouver’s trendy West End, Chef Kris Barnholden and GM/sommelier Eryn Dorman present LaTab Wine Bar. This intimate wine bar features unique sharing options that have been paired with natural, organic and biodynamic wines. While the menu is small, Barnholden and Dorman have diligently taken the time to pair each dish with the perfect wine.
Vancouver’s Prado Café is opening its third location on Fraser Street, uniting coffee lovers with a relaxing environment, freshly made food, and the perfect brew yet again. This new location offers an expanded menu that will focus on toast dishes that will be made fresh each morning from scratch. This will be the perfect place to grab brunch, study, or to unwind with a cup of coffee while indulging on buckwheat waffles. Or minted pea and avocado toast.
Q Shi Q:
Q Shi Q is Vancouver’s newest Yakitori bar located in the Olympic Village and it serves up casual Japanese BBQ cuisine. All dishes are made with meats from local farmers and Ocean Wise seafood and are paired with homemade marinades and seasonings, bringing customers an explosion of flavour.
Popular Vancouver sports bar Sharks Club has recently re-opened its doors following a year-long hiatus. Sports fans will love the casual atmosphere and vintage sports-themed media walls, while party-goers can appreciate that the lounge turns into a dance floor. With more than 50 TVs available, you’ll always be able to catch your favourite game.
Bodega on Main is the reincarnation of La Bodega and will be serving up traditional Spanish tapas. Diners can enjoy an open-concept dining space with vaulted ceilings or an intimate dinning room that will be accompanied the authentic Spanish touches that La Bodega was originally known for. Diners can indulge in Spanish wines and sharing dishes that include freshly prepared crostini and accompaniments and traditional Spanish pasta dishes.
