Do you know where you got your drive from?
In my early 20s, I decided to move to NYC to study dance. As you can imagine, training and auditioning was highly competitive and I quickly learned that I had to develop a strict work ethic and define my creative style to stand out. The grind that comes along with being a struggling artist in NYC has never left me and is the reason I really like working within an organization that’s going through hyper growth. You have to hustle to win new business and carve out new opportunities for yourself and the company. I attribute my former life on stage to how I approach my work today.

How do you stay self-motivated?
Growing up as a dancer you learn very fast how to be self-motivated. I remember the days when I received my third ‘no’ after numerous rounds of call backs, and doubting how I was going to do it all again. It was all about competing against yourself, and even after rejection, continuing to push yourself to practice until you booked that gig, scored that agent and stood out to top choreographers. Similar to my work ethic in business, I never want to settle for mediocracy, always determined to go that extra mile.

What would you say is your preferred way to network?

Real connections are important in the marketing world and I believe in authentic relationships between people (and brands), so I am all about meeting in-person and building personal connections. All of my life changing opportunities have come from meeting the right people IRL.

How would you describe your process for deepening relationships?

Influencer relations is the business of working with people so I find it extremely important to take the time to understand a person’s background and what drives them. It’s critical that I know how those experiences and passion points can be connected to a specific project that is beneficial for not only the influencer and brand, but more importantly, the influencer’s community members. We’re not just trying to build relationships with one individual, we’re trying to build relationships with an entire following – relevance is key.

What are your preferred tools for keeping organized?
I am old school and can’t live without a notebook and pen. The satisfaction of physically crossing off tasks from my to-do list is extremely rewarding!

What is your favourite way to market your product or services?

Nothing replaces building real relationships and spreading news through traditional word of mouth, which is essential in my line of work, especially when it comes to working with both brands and influencers.

We are in the business of building trusted relationships and I truly believe that connecting on a personal level is the best possible way to achieve success. That said, for all the moments in between, it’s important for me to stay closely connected to my contacts through social media.

Who has been your mentor in helping you find success?

I don’t attribute where I am today to one person, but to a handful of inspirational mentors who I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with. They have come in many forms such as a dance instructor, a NYC choreographer, a Seneca professor and currently the senior leadership team at North. Combined with the right opportunities, taking risks and a bit of luck, many moments and people have helped pave the way towards each chapter of my life.

What social issue does your organization raise funds and/or awareness for?
North provides PR, content and social media support to the YWCA to help build awareness and raise funds for their incredible program offering across Canada (e.g. Camp Tapawingo, Women of Distinction, Power of Being a Girl , Think Big Lead Now).

We’ve also teamed up with Enactus, a non-profit organization that supports young post-secondary student entrepreneurs whose ideas and actions aim to improve the world around us. North team members are providing ongoing coaching, guidance and mentorship to these inspiring students.

Do you have a fitness ritual that you live by?
I switch it up. Right now, I am really into circuit classes and spinning, my rule is to try to sweat at least two to three times a week, which usually does the trick.

How do you feed your soul?
Good friends and live music.

How would you describe the eating ritual that makes you feel most powerful?

A daily cold pressed juice is an easy pick me up, but ultimately, a dinner with my girlfriends. I love heading out for the night to my local favs such as Branca, Union and Mamakas or trying out a new spot, nothing motivates me more than catching up with the woman in my life who are so empowering.
Who is your favourite personality to follow on YouTube?
Casey Neistat.

What type of content do you find most compelling on Instagram?

Content that stands out to me are those that have an unique point of view. I love Justin Main (@photified) because of how he can take a photo of an iconic Toronto location and turn it into a piece of art. I’m inspired by people that have a vision for great content and the ability to bring it to life.

Who is your favourite artist?
Florence Welch, who is the vocalist for the indie band Florence and the Machine. Many would say I have a small obsession…

What is your favourite meal?
Is ice cream a meal?

What is your favourite sport to watch?

Hockey. I love the hustle and adrenaline rush in that sport. I would totally choose to come back as a hockey player in my next life.

Where is your favourite place to unwind?

Hands down hanging on my couch. I even created its own hashtag! #WhiteCouch725 (which ended up being our official wedding hashtag) and then #GreyCouch92 for when we moved and covered it! It is so epic that at our engagement party our two best friends wrote a song about it to R.Kelly’s Ignition – one of my favourite memories.
